#39 "There is Always More Work to Do. Be the One to Do It."

Google’s Director of Moonshots (yep real title) Astro Teller wheeled an imaginary time machine into Google Co-Founder Larry Page’s office. Teller then plugged it in and it worked! Page’s response is very telling.

“Why does it need a plug? Wouldn’t it be better if it didn’t use power at all?” It’s not that Page didn’t appreciate the effort or the inventiveness of the time machine. What he identified immediately was it could be better. I have often struggled with checking the box. The job is done, move on. This is not the way guys like Page think. There is always a way to make something better.

The guys like Steve Jobs, Larry Page, Richard Branson who as Jobs said, “kick a dent in the universe,” never arrive. They are always looking to improve upon their creations. It’s this mindset of more work to be done that leads to truly amazing things. Be the one who does the work.

You rule!
