Rule #45 "Only Die Once"
“A coward dies a thousand times before his death, but the valiant taste of death but once…”-William Shakespear, Julius Caesar
I used to be and can still slip into being a terrible worrier. However, I have overcome much of my habit of worry. I have finally learned to look back on my life and realize most of the worst concerns I ever had never came to pass. Those which did, I survived. Further, worry did not in any way benefit me.
So often we lose the joy of our present because we are worried about a future that doesn’t even exist and a past we cannot in any way change. The only thing real is this moment right here right now. If the future holds something dreadful, we’ll deal with it then. However, to worry about something prematurely makes no sense whatsoever.
I say if we’re all going to die anyway let’s just do it once.
You rule!
